Low nutrients was the issue. Ever since ive added more nutrients my acans, mushrooms, gsp etc pretty much everything but zoas have looked better then ever. Ive tried the whole reduced lighting/blackout thing, siphoning them into a filter sock, vibrant, dosing phyto...Yes you can definitely beat them without a UV but need to experiment and try out different things. Siphoning as much as you can works. Turning off the lights a few days will help slow down. DE filters work. A cheap Jebao UV will get the job done too.
You should try to figure out the cause. This of course is sometimes impossible but try to think if you made any changes to your tank. Started dosing something new etc.
Anybody ever beat dinos without a UV sterilizer?
Dinos have been “almost” gone since mid march but i cant seem to get rid of them. Wondering if no UV is allowing them to come back...
