Ive battled a bacterial bloom for too long. I’d get it under control but then it would get a little whitish and the water was just never crystal clear. It was never really milky but always had the slightest white tint. I found some white stuff growing in the sump and in the overflow where light never gets to on a heater. I finally put in a sterilizer and in hours the water seemed clearer. Waking up this morning the tank water is crystal clear. I’m excited. Now need to keep it this way. The tank is only 4 months old or so and I’m finally getting more excited about it. Was getting depressing. Never had this problem with my first tank but they’re all different. So I’m just relaying my experience for anybody else who might find it useful.
