I run 390-400nm uv violet light pretty strong.

Anyone read anything scientific that says uv violet light promotes algae?

I swear if my NO3 goes over 2ppm. ... I see hair algae start to form on LR. This is even AFTER I've pulled all my LR, applied H2O2 and thoroughly scrub every nook and cranny

.

The major photopigments in zooxanthellae (chlorophylls a & c2, peridinin) can absorb and use UV in the photosynthetic process. Here's the graph for chlorophyll a.

@Dana Riddle

What's the nanometer peak exactly in the Red spectrum? The exact NM peak?
662 nm. While on this note, I received notice of a recently published paper concerning light weighted towards the red end of the spectrum. This light slowed the rate of photosynthesis in zooxanthellae.
