Im setting up a new tank, I have a oversized skimmer and ozone. I want to add a UV just to help with algae problems in the future. I was thinking coral life but jabeo seems to be cheaper for more watts. Honestly I don't see a point in spending 400 for a bulb in a tube. Unless someone else brings up a good point. Just don't see it.

I think you should jump on the jeaboo bandwagon, why even ask
I didn't even know that UV was part of their line now too.

I am planning on running a Lifegard Aquatics 40 Watt UV Sterilizer on my Red Sea Reefer XXL 750.

My rational is that I was very successful with my FO tank 25 years ago and I believe that was in part because of the UV sterilization.

Don, your story is very similar to mine except I can't fit the 40 watt Lifegard under my 750XXL so I bought the Coralife TurboTwist (36 watts). Still haven't figured out the best way to plumb it in. Just filled the tank for the first time this weekend and have the water circulating through a Sicce Syncra SDC 7.o return pump. Trying to figure out how to adjust the levels properly. Like yourself, I ran a 40 watt Lifeguard in my first tank many moons ago and my water was always crystal clear and I suffered nearly zero losses once everything was stable. With my new750XXL I also need to plumb in a PhosBan reactor which I feel contributed to my success the first time around. If you have any thoughts or suggestions on how to plumb both of these into the 750XXL, I would appreciate to hear them! Good luck with this gorgeous tank!

Thanks,
Ed

Ed,
Based on this information I am going to switch over to the same unit. I realized as I looked into the Lifeguard product that it was only a vertical installation.

Thanks for information!
Don

IMO the bigger, the better. It's all about cost (initial+running) and space...
For my 100g I've got the TMC 600 with a 36w tube. I would prefer a bigger one but it was a good deal...
What you also need to consider it's the flow, because water should "stay" inside the tube for some time.
As per the need, I run 24x7 and I've got no issues at the tank and the fishes are always great. So I'm convinced it's a good equipment with a low cost to protect my investment.
