Hey everyone. Been lurking around here a few times, finally decided to post my build on here as well.

Currently we have a 90 gallon reef tank that we've had for the last 2 years, and always talked about wanting to go bigger. We finally decided a couple months ago to break down and go for it. Had me a custom 225 gallon rimless peninsula tank built by Planet Aquariums. It's 36" wide, 48" long, and 30" tall. Gotta say I love this tank! Currently waiting for it to cycle so we can tear down the 90 gallon and transfer everything over to the 225.

Layout of the tank

Elite Aquatics M3 48 gallon sump. Thing is a beast! 2nd pic is next to my 2 year old son, lol!

Went with 2 Eliminator switch power panels

Started on the canopy

And all finished up after stain!

Floating canopy anyone? :D

And finally, the tank arrives!!!

Got the stand in, sump installed

And got the tank installed, with the help of 4 other people. Man that thing was heavy!

Got it all wired up and circulating. (Pay no mind to the 2 bogus wires. They are for temporary heaters until I remove the one from my 90 gallon and hide the wire from it.)

Size comparison next to my 5'-2" tall wife. (Pay no mind to the hose and clamp on the side. It's been removed now since I had the time to run the return pump.)

And finally the rocks are in getting cycled until I get time to aquascape it.

Also just have to find time to skin the metal stand with wood. It's going to have the same look as the canopy. Will be putting magnets on each panel so I can remove the entire side if I need to get under the stand instead of trying to crawl through a little cabinet door.

Thanks for looking! :)

Thanks!

Forgot to add that my 2 Gen 2 Radions will be transferring to the new tank as well. Already ran the 2 MP40's as you can see from the control boxes.

Wow great build and cute kid! HA! Welcome to R2R and looking forward to more pics!

Thanks! Deffinately wanted to keep it clutter free unlike my last set up. Was tired of chasing wires. Lol!

Alright, so we did a little rearranging of the rocks last night. I really like the way they're set up now. Think it's going to stay!

Everything looks great, I love the floating canopy. You have a nice setup overall. Two thumbs up!

Thanks everyone! And had the help from your sump to help it look good! Lol!

After 3 months of it up and running, and 2 months being stocked, here are some updated pics. Corals grew a little bit, and some new fish at the bottom. Sorry for the crappy cell pics. It's all I got. :(

More

And my huge bubble coral! Thing is a beast!!! It was about 1/4 this size when we bought it. It opened up nicely in the 90 gallon we had. Opens up really big in the 225! Takes up 1/3 of the tank width wise, lol!
