Hello everyone, I’m going on a long vacation with my wife for three weeks. I will have somebody feeding my tank, but I do not trust him to clean the glass with scratching it. Thinking of ways to reduce algae buildup, like reducing time of lights, or turning down the brightness. I don’t want to kill my corals, of course, but three weeks is a long time of algae buildup on acrylic. Any ideas?

Other than a UV, reducing the light schedule a bit could help. There are some supplements (not Vibrant) that can also reduce algae (these can be hit and miss). Lighting and reduced feeding are probably your best options.

What type of cleaner do you usually use?

I left my acrylic 120g for 3 weeks. It didn't take much more time or effort than usual for me to get it back to crystal clean with my Might Magnet with dozer pad.

I'd image a standard dobie pad or Magic Eraser would work just as well.
