So i'm here to report another 'just my luck' story - while i was out of town on vacation, my ATO's emergency float switch triggered a false positive and the ATO shut off. No RODI going in, which meant lowering water, which meant no return flow, no heater, etc. My APEX alerted me based on a PH and temp issues. It was probably in this state for 2-3 days.

I guess I'm lucky that EVERYTHING didn't die, but I'm frustrated and sad to report lost of a bunch of high end coals. Fox Flame, Z's Cotton Candy, LRO Magic Kingdom, Voodoo Magic, many others. So so sad, they were all mini colonies and all gone =(.

Anyways, it's been back up and temp, PH, parameters have been stable for 2 weeks now. But my SPS are still struggling. Many are really bleached and I fear barely hanging on or on their way out. The tank is barely using any Alkalinity - maybe 20ml /day when it used to use 70ml/day. I suspect temp dropped to the low 70's, (maybe hit 70), unsure of PH. I measured ALK right away when it was back up and running and it dropped to 7, i normally keep it at 8, it normally uses much more alk but I guess the temp drop slowed everything down. Salinity obviously went up a bit too. Ended up needing to add 15g of RODI into the sump, the overall tank + sump volume is normally 116g.

My question: With all of the above said, am i extremely lucky/shouldn't be complaining that anything even survived? Being stable for 2 weeks now, should I expect the frags/mini colonies that survived to likley make it? Is there anything else i should do in this 'recovery' period to increase chances of survival?

**Also, without the skimmer, GFO, UV, running since there was no active sump going due to water volume, i also have experienced a dino outbreak. That's icing on the cake. But it is getting on my dead/dying frags and i'm manually removing, what else should i do there? Current readings:

PH: 8.24
Temp: 78
Alk: 7.7
Cal: 460
Mg: 1300

Any help, guidance, welcome. Thank you!

Wow! I’m sorry to hear about the challenges with your tank.

Let’s see if we can get some help. #reefsquad

Sorry for your troubles.I have seen almost white acros slowly recover.Give them awhile and do some reading in the meantime. You'll have to make a plan of action for dealing with those dinos. There are a lot of threads on this forum regarding this.

Thank you. Plan is in motion, let see how it goes. Bringing Phosphates back up from .03 to .08 or so, feeding more, dosing H202, and have been vacuuming Dino’s from sand into sump filter sock to trap much and whatever goes through hits my AquaUV 57 inline UV. Hope this works...
