Ok here we go. My fish tank is in my office, which is about a 12x12 room. I am going on vacation for the first time while having this tank and need opinions on how to handle the fish room. I have 2 cats that have never messed with my tank, but I will be adding an auto feeder, thus concerned they may try and jump up there and generally when I leave, I close as many doors as possible to limit where they could get stuck. Anyway, my question is should I leave the door to my office open? I really want to close it for piece of mind. I have a vent and return in the office, but don't want to "choke" the tank with stale air or lacking O2. I have a temperature sensor and can monitor the room to ensure it stays cool enough. Question really comes down to the the O2 levels of a 12x12 room with a vent and return for 4 days. Thoughts? Concerns? Am I crazy?

I try to do a calculation between the thumb and the index finger - and you will have around 6 kg (= 6 000 g -> 6 000 000 mg) pure oxygen in that room at day 1. 1 L of saltwater contain around 6 mg/L fully saturated at around 25 degree C. 100 L will contain 600 mg - 1000 L 6000 mg. You can empty your O2 concentration 1000 times before the O2 in the room is zero in 1000L of water. You have both incoming and outcoming air in your office. You will be away for 4 days. Of cause you can close the door - the oxygen concentration in the room will not go down at all IMO.

Leave and sleep tight

Sincerely Lasse
