Really need help on how to set up aquarium for a vacation. I do have an Apex although I'm not techy enough to use everything it offers. I know I will have add on to auto top off system as it only lasts about two to three days. I have an Eheim auto feeder but need help figuring out what dry food will keep fish and corals happy although only have soft corals. I would really appreciate any help as would hate to stay home while others vacation, although I will if that is what I have to do.

How long will you be gone? Your ATO reservoir is probably the most important thing to figure out so you have enough top off water for the trip. If it's only a week or two, your dry food in the feeder will be fine. I actually use a blend of pellets and flakes.

Do you have anyone local in case you need help? I would also recommend a Webcam if you can swing it. It's good to be able to see what's going on. If a problem comes up you can walk someone through trying to fix it - assuming you have someone around.

Lastly, get everything ready well ahead of time. You don't want to make any changes right before you leave. Make sure everything is stable and running smoothly.

Most importantly, enjoy the trip and try not to worry about things at home. Notice I said try!!!!!

Thanks David. I feed Omega One and frozen brine now. Any suggestions to add to the feeder to help compensate for brine loss?

No real way to make up for the frozen. I use a combo of New Life Spectrum Thera+A pellets and Ocean Nutrition Brine Flakes. I actually use it for breakfast everyday via a feeder and then frozen in the evenings. I simply just program evening feedings when I'm gone.

As I said before, if it's just a week or so, no worries. Heck, there are some out there that would say you can go a week without feeding anything.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
