You’re fine if you have a reliable top off system that adds rodi water. The salt doesn’t evaporate. That said depending on your tank and how long you’ll be away your Alkalinity, Ca, and Mg might go down.

I personally disconnect my ATO as in my absence is when it will fail. I do overfill my sump and it lasts 5-6 days.
I do have someone experienced coming to check my tank daily also.

I've left my tanks for up to a month at a time.
  • autofeeder with tape over part of the opening to better regulate food portion
  • large container of RODI water next to the tank to feed the ATO
  • fill up 2-part or CO2 for calcium reactor (if either are used).
  • As for heaters, mine are always run using an Inkbird-type controller so I just leave them as is
That's about it.

As for salinity, it will not drop. (As mike550 mentioned, salt doesn't evaporate, only water ... which the ATO replaces.)

Calcium and alk — we can't really help answer your question without more information...

Have you been testing your tank to see if, or how much, your tank is consuming?

If your tank is consuming them, do you use a 2-part doser or calcium reactor ... or do you rely solely on water changes to replenish them?

How long will you be gone?

14 days

Who much top off water do you use in a day. That x(14) is what you need to plan to replace.

I use an auto top off when I’m away for periods of time. Could also be of interest to get someone to come in that you can trust to check on your tank every couple of days. Also I have cameras watching my tank when I’m away that way if anything happens I can phone someone to come and check it out.

Okay, 14 days ... that's one piece of the puzzle. But there are still a couple more...
