So I’m going to buy an auto feeder for the fish when I go out of town in August for 7 days. I plan on getting corals soon...LPS and soft corals and zoas. Can they go that long without any feedings? Or will they eat what comes out of the feeder? Want to be prepared for when I leave.

If I were you, wait until you get back from vacation to put corals in your tank. Especially if your tank is fairly new. You would feel awful if things turned south when you are out on vacay. However if your tank is stocked with a fair amount of fish, that should be okay. Fish poop is the best food. Some people don’t even feed their corals at all and just rely on their fish and uneaten food in the tank.

autofeeder feeds the fish, then, the fish poop and feed the corals.
Maybe an a ATO to keep salinity on point.

I just bought an ATO 3155 Tunze for when I am on vacation and to use everyday.

Great choice.
ATO to me is a MUST if your keeping corals.
Not only is it one less daily task, but keeps the salinity pinned for stability.
I can go a max of 15 days now without touching anything.

What all do you have? I plan to be out of town next year for 2 weeks.

An ATO and enough RODI in a bucket for 15 days evap.
An eiheim feeder. It feeds three times a day. Enough food for a month.
A doser, dosing 6 things, Alk, CA, MG, Nopox, iodide, strontium. Enough for a month.

Before I leave, I do a water change a few nights before, top up dosing jars, empty the skimmer, and fill the ATO before I go.

So today, I did all that, so I do not need to touch the tank for 14 days now.

What doser and bucket do you have? I am a newbie and don't have corals yet. So, if I buy soft ones, what will I need to do?

I got an auto feeder already now because my husband forgets to feed the fish sometimes when I'm at work....lol. I get home early enough to feed them a nice meal and they are happy. So I will look into an ATO for my vacation. My tank doesnt really evaporate that fast but I do usually do a top off once a week if it looks a little lower than normal. I cant really trust any one to come and feed them so I may only get softies and wait until i get back to get some LPS.
