vacation recommendations?

hi everyone!
my entire family is about to go on a couple week trip to the hawaiian islands. i tried as hard as i could, but i could only get some good care for it after a week we will be gone. so, for that one week, what do you recommend doing for my tank? at the other house, we have a professional staying with our monster tank, but i’m talking about my daughter’s nano. it’s been running since december but currently fighting hair algae, cyano, and high nutrients in general. we have an ato and thinking a good water change and a frozen/pellet/live feeding right before we leave or those vacation tablets? what i’m most concerned about is the algae completely taking over my tank- because it is growing FAST and i have some pretty expensive corals. i will shorten the lights on-time and the intensity for that week. advice, ideas, etc?

I went on a vacation too for a week with 6 month old tank that fights diatoms and some cyano. I left au automatic food distributor with pellets inside, 2 Times per day and I dit a 40% WC before departing with full osmolator compartment

For a week seal to stop any evap and add an air pump. You can do up to a 100 percent water change if you wanted to. Make sure same salt and temp is within 2 degrees.

The algae while gone can be a good thing. Trim what you can manually/syphon. Feed sparingly. If something were to go south, the algae will assist with ammonia. Then work on removing when you get back.

What kind of fish? A whole week is borderline too long for zero feeding. If you can afford 2 weeks in Hawaii, I’d venture to guess you can afford an automatic feeder... This is the one I use when the whole family travels.

of course! i would never leave them without feeding that long. i was deciding between tablets or my auto feeder, but since i feed my fish such a good variety, they tend to get picky. i’m going to pop it on anyway. thanks!

Ohhhhhhh… lol sorry I misunderstood. I have left fish without food for several days and they were fine. A week sounded dangerous. Alas, the point is moot.
