Vacuum live sand?

Have a clean up crew with snails hermits servant star and a couple cucumbers. Do I need to vacuum my sand?
I say no, I think that's a bad idea, your sand holds many of the nutrients your tank needs , if it's looking brown and nasty check your phosphates, it should go down and the critters in the tank will eventually turn it over

Depends on how deep your sand bed is. If it is a DSB, then absolutely not. I vacuum my entire substrate once a week, every water change, but it is less than 1".
