I say no, I think that's a bad idea, your sand holds many of the nutrients your tank needs , if it's looking brown and nasty check your phosphates, it should go down and the critters in the tank will eventually turn it over

No, do not vacuum live sand. Nassaurius snails or Fighting Conchs are your best option for cleaning and aerating your sandbed.

Depends on how deep your sand bed is. If it is a DSB, then absolutely not. I vacuum my entire substrate once a week, every water change, but it is less than 1".

I agree with Waters in that it depends on your sand bed. Mine is about 1.5" deep so yes, I vacuum it occasionally.
