Hello.

So I'm thinking of getting a puffer for my tank.I currently have 2 clown fish and a dragon goby in a 50 g tank. I know I will have to get a nice supply of snails and other inverts to file the teeth down. I picked his buffer beacus its one of the small puffers and I was hoping it would not be able to eat my clowns at least till it gets bigger and if it dose then I plan on getting 2 black clown and move the puffer to my fug. Well now to the point any one had any Esperance with this breed of puffer.

It will not eat your clowns. A valentini may pick at clams or fleshy brain corals, as well as snails and hermits, but otherwise pretty safe. I say go for it.

I've had one for years (with clowns) and he's been a model citizen. It's like having a tiny dog in my tank. So much personality.

Valentini puffers are good with fish.Do not keep them with soft corals.they will eat them.

Valentini puffer won't eat any fish unless it's with super tiny fish.Fish one inch and bigger should probably be fine.

Have you researched your Dragon Goby?
There are a couple of species that go by dragon goby. There are a couple of Amblygobius species, known also as bullet gobies and they sift sand, then there is the brackish fish, often sold as a freshwater fish.

The Amblygobius are without question suitable fr the OP tank.

The other type of dragon goby is most commonly found in estuarine conditions but have also been reported in fully marine environments. They can be difficult to get eating, but if it is eating you should be fine.

Iv researched the dragon goby I was only wondering beacuse he is smaller than my clowns ATM. I plan on getting the puffer within the next 2-4 weeks along with more rock so i can make a ledge for it to hang out under. Then dragon goby is the one that plays in the sand he has already made 2 of my rocks fall deeper in to my coral bed that is 2-3' deep
