More poor puffer got startled last night while he was sleeping. He usually hangs on the side of the overflow towards the top of the tank. I walked by the tank and heard the water surface break and then scratching sounds behind the tank. He puffed and I had to us my long plastic grabber to slide him out from behind. I got him back in water he seemed to purge the air out and swam. He was at the top of the tank this morning. I thought he didnt make it through the night but he swam away. It seems like his rear fin might be hurt. My wife called and said he was on the bottom of the tank on the sand. She saw him laying there thought he was dead but he was breathing and then started swimming again. He is swimming more in a circle and not very quick like normal.

Is there anything I can do for him or is it a wait and see if he makes it thing. I was going to see if he would take some mysis later when I get home from work. He for sure had some dog hair and some dust from behind the tank on him. I didnt want to stress him anymore than needed so I just got him in some tank water and once he was in the tank he basically burped air out of his mouth and deflated.

Possibly try and oxygenate the water more with an air stone or turn the powerhead up anything else I think would stress him out more/not help.

I have my gyre and 2 little power heads breaking the surface and I have my skimmer going in the sump. I have a old air pump in the basement I could put a line in the tank and add more bubbles.

That sounds like a good plan! And get/make a lid if you don’t have one already.
