I just realized this on the side of my valentini puffer. Does anyone have any idea what it is and how do I fix it?

Nope none. Is it possible Cmcuz of a temperature spike? I'm having trouble keeping my aquarium cool in this heat

Lots of things can cause a bacterial infection. Almost anything that stresses the fish's immune system: injury, poor water quality, disease, etc.

What would be the best course of action after making sure water parameters are okay?

What kind of antibiotics do you have on hand?

What foods has the fish been fed?

I don't have any tbh but I have a lfs right next to me. He has been eating mysis shrimp and half shell clams

Frozen... I've also been putting thawes out silver sides for my lionfish. Still trying to get him into frozen foods

Ok. So what I think has happened is your fish has picked up a bacterial called Vibrio from the clams or silver sides. It's a very common bacteria that is not killed by freezing. Best way to treat is with antibiotics. Treat quickly though. Sometimes this bacterial infection can go sideways rather quickly.
Specifically treat with: Kanamycin aka Kanaplex and can also add nitrofurazone aka Furan 2 together for a more complete and wider spread of treatment. If red sores appear, a bath in Methylene Blue can help.

Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna go pick those up asap. In the future how do I feed without introducing more bacteria?
