I was thinking of putting a valentini puffer into a 36 gallon tank. I was wondering if anyone knows if it would pick on or eat blue leg hermit crabs, turbo snails, or a pincushion urchin. Anyone have experience with this?
-Thanks

Whatever your heart desires

Hello. I have a Valentini Puffer who was in a 90g tank, now in my 230g mixed reef tank. In both tanks he is happily swimming around with no problems, no coral or rock nipping. His tank mates are a Yellow Hawaiian Tang, Purple Tang, Tomato Clown. 2 Perculas, Copper Banded, Hippo Tang, Green Bird Wrasse, Flame Angel, Ebelis Angel, Pearlscale Butterfly, Foxface, Damsels, Chromis, Cardnials, Black Combtooth Blenney, Spotted Watchman Goby, Sea Cucumber, Starfish and assorted snails and crabs. I had him for 10+ months and not a problem.
Hope this helps you out :) good luck!

I have one in my 36Bow and just recently restocked it as I noticed my snails and majority of hermits were missing... Only tankmates are 2 clowns, blue/green chromis and 2 yellow damsels and 3 long spine urchins.... Upon placing 10+ new hermits and 5 snails I noticed mine picking at the new inverts.... so it all made since... Large claw, blue legs, red legs... he went after em all!

Thanks everyone.

You said you have it with a long spine urchin with no problems?
