Hi all! My name is Vance and I have an addiction. One of my tanks is getting a refresh so I figured I could make a build thread of a semi running tank. The tank was running strong for a year before we had a serious mag spike which took out all mollusks and many large colonies and I have been fighting algae for a year now due to lack of clean up and action on my part with the mag spike.
I'm planning on hooking this system up to my sps tank on a communal sump in the near future, but for now here are the specs.
125 gallon tank: 4'x2'
30 gallon biocube mangrove refugium
55 gallon sump
Aquamaxx es5 skimmer
Lighting is a home made LED system
Livestock includes:
Australian harlequin tusk
Leaf lip soapfish
Scribbled rabbitfish
Frogskin angler
Christmas wrasse
Corals are mostly LPS and zoas
And cleanup crew is almost non existent other than three urchins... The tusk developed a taste for inverts when they died off with the mag spike.
Things I am looking to do before the fish room is complete and tanks are linked together:
Add additional refugium/cheato to sump.
Set up RO filter that has been sitting in the box for almost a year now.
Change rockscape to something sturdy and solid. While making detritus removal easier and removing the dead spots where it accumulates.
