As the title reads… my clownfish went missing overnight. My six line is prancing around this morning and I happened to notice mr. Clown wasn’t dancing around per usual. It’s a 24g cube with not many hiding places, and I just stared for a solid 20 minutes. No way of getting into rear sump but I checked anyways.

Assuming the worst, what should my first though be here? I have the six line as mentioned, some hermits, snails, and a pair of golden banded shrimp which I never see. I haven’t seen the shrimp in a few days either, but to be fair, I rarely do.

Should I get to sifting through the sand and moving my scape after work today, or is he just gone gone in a matter of 12 hours?

If the clown died in the tank I would assume the coral banded is snacking on him at the moment.

How old was the clown roughly?

a 6line shouldn’t mess with a clown too much, but in a smaller tank you never know

If the 6 line is dancing around happy and no clown to be seen, I know who I’d blame.
Check around the tank and in the filter to make sure the clown didn’t wind up there.

Update - Just before I started moving rock around, I noticed that the guard to my powerhead was just barely propped up off the glass. Poor guy got sucked in. I feel awful but now know the importance of double checking the guard after cleaning.
