Vanishing fish

Because of a severe injury, I had a tank crash three months after setup. Got reorganized, slowly,
I started adding fish, the emerald crab & 2 cerith snails. Everything is fine. Then 2 fish vanish in a few days. I have a tight fitting, hard lid, so I know that's not the problem.

This critter went unnoticed for 2 years according to the subtitles and found it when stripped tank down at a lfs in england.
Said did little damage before found it so lucky them.
What amazes me is it split into 3 pieces when removed and put into empty tank.i am new to saltwater so my experience limited but i would say splitting into 3 is some kind of survival mechanism to save/ replicate itself probably. And he took a thorough bath before he went into the
Interesting to see but defo wouldnt like one in my tank ^_^
Well, my case, I was forced to strip down the tank. Even a thorough washing up like substrate. I've only added one coral, an Orange Sunburst, from online Live Aquaria. And he got a good bath before he went into my DP. So I think it's highly unlikely I have a critter

Damsels and dottybacks can be a true terror. Obv they wouldn't kill the fish directly but for new additions to be hiding, jumping, or going into the overflow is common when harassed. Have you thoroughly checked these places? I would highly recommend you set up a qt asap and toss any fish you do find in and any new addition in the future because adding peaceful fish to an established community always has its challenges.
I had a sad experience with a Royal Gramma. She harassed 2 fish so badly they stopped eating. One stayed hidden behind a powerhead, the other juvenile just dodged the bullets, going in and out of rock work tunnels. Both slowly succumbed to starvation before I caught the RG in a trap.
