Hey guys, I'm a little confused about this. I just bought my apex, and hooked it up. Do I need a vdm to dim stuff?? Or is that what the variable sports that I see on my web server do? Sry if this is a dumb question, lol!

It's located on the base unit, to the right of the ph/orp , 2 slots with 4 LEDS lit, this are the "V" ports for lights and pumps

So with that being said you cant just plug in a regular desk light and have it ramp up and down? It has to be compatible and able to connect via them ports?

Correct, that's not directly feasible.

To dim or vary something with the variable speed ports, the accessory must be able to be controlled by a DC signal. That's essentially all the variable speed ports are; a 0-10V DC variable signal.
