So I used to run a JCP 5000 which according to my Apex pushed about 550 GPH. I switched to a Varios 4 and it did about 460 at max. My JCP fluctuated about 5 GPH total, up and down throughout the day. I set the alarm high at 560 and low at 540 even though it hovered between 550 and 555. Figuring the Varios would have a similarly stable output, I set the alarms for 470 and 450.

Then the daily, sometimes twice daily alarms started. Always the low alarm, so I would drop the tolerance for low flow on my return alarm. Then it would go off again, and again I'd lower it. I'm now at an output of 382 which is almost 100 GPH lower than a week ago. It has steadily been producing less and less flow over time. I've tried starting and stopping it to see if it would ever jump back to 460 with no luck. The pump was soaked and thoroughly cleaned a week ago so I can be pretty confident that it isn't build-up. I've also checked the intake screen and impeller and nothing is blocking or obstructing flow.

Has anyone else seen this?

I had the same issue with mine but when I would turn it off and turn it back on again it would go to full power and then slowly drop down after a couple days contacted coralvue and they sent me out a new impeller under warranty and it hasn't done it since. They did have me take the pump apart and try to spin the impeller to see how well it would spin mine had slight resistance on it so check yours out to see how well spins if it's still under warranty I would contact them.

Sounds to me like the pump is starting to give up the ghost.
I am running a RO, VarioS 8 and have had no problems that I am aware of. Although I don't have flow meters either.

Have you noticed ( through Apex Fusion) wether the pump is drawing more or less amps than normal?

I would contact Coral Vue and see what they suggest

I have the VarioS 4 and have not had any problems with it that I know of as well. I use the pause funtion for 15 minutes at feeding time and it auto starts back on. I love this return pump

Hmm, I haven’t check to see if it is drawer more power, good idea!

I took it apart last night and everything looks fine, no instructions, impeller spins freely, no signs of wear. I’ll reach out to Coralvue. Honestly I hate to go that route. I’ve needed support on every coralvue product I’ve owned and the customer experience each time has been less than stellar.

I have had a couple times where I needed their support . One was quite stellar with regards to help and the other was meh.
Kind of hit or miss, sadly.

I would watch and log the amperage readings for own presence of mind and to give you a sort of precursor if something is about to conk out.
