the new Varios 8 runs a 1.25" return. They provide a barb fitting and two slip type fittings both 1.25" exit. I've got a Red Sea 750 and for some reason Red Sea used a 3/4" return!

I've got 10ft of 1.25" pvc but my question is what's the best way to reduce down to a 3/4" barb? I'll eventually hard plumb it once I take a better look at the Red Sea fittings.

Thanks for any info.

I would get an 1 1/4 x 3/4 slip x thread bushing, and put it into which ever fitting made the most sense in your plumbing route then get a 3/4 male thread by barb fitting.

I could be missing something though. But I believe this will work for you, if I've understood correctly.

That's what I was looking for. My local box stores do not have them. I guess I'll check a plumbing supply on Monday or wed.

You'll probably have to install two reducers. 1 1/4 x 1 then 1 x 3/4.

Thanks. I'll see if I can find one at a specialty shop and then I guess the screw in barb at Lowes.

I've found screw in barbs at different fish stores. They should carry your bushing at lowes, Home Depot, ace hardware and other such hardware stores.

Best of luck!

Couldn't find the right bushings at either box store. Not sure what my local ace has for pvc fittings.

Got it.

It’s too much pump for any rs reefer. The 6 is a better fit. I had to change it just recently. Bush down to 1”. A little messy here. Like another member, I simply machined down the 1” red piping to mate to the Red Sea return plumbing and glued it up. I’ll add another union down the line. I had a hose clamp in the mix before and had my ICP come back with high metal results. The clamp was rusted so I decided to make the switch seeing I had the materials sitting around. Not he prettiest right now but it works.
