Varios owners

I have a Varios 6 return pump, there is a rubber grommet that goes on the back of the impeller when the grommet is in place the impeller won't spin, when removed it works fine. What is the purpose of this grommet. Should I lubricate it (with what?) or is the grommet in need of replacement?

not familiar with your pump, but on any pump i have taken apart the rubber bushings hold the shaft that the impellar spins on.
