Hello,

I have a quick question. I am trying to plumb my reef octopus varios 6 pump to a 3/4" return line. I purchased 3/4" flex hose from BRS and in looking at the pump's return spigot (supplied with the pump) - it looks more like it is 1" wide. I was able to attach the flexible hose to it (using warm water). Picture attached.

The other end I was planning on attaching to a 3/4" adaptor spigot I also purchased at BRS.

Will this work?

With my Varios-4 I used a similar PVC adapter to replace the Red Sea one on the return line, used a few wraps of teflon tape, but not too much. I used the 3/4" silicon tubing from BRS. My memory is that it was an easy attachment on the pump and way too lose with the Red Sea adapter.

I used Hose Clamps on both sides, the two little fishes plastic one on the return and a regular stainless steel clamp on the return line.

so the top picture is the adaptor they supplied with the pump. It is slightly bigger than the barb in the second picture. The 3/4" hose I was able to get on it is very tight - I have a plastic hose clamp as well. I'm not concerned about it slipping off. I was more concerned about whether such a hose would break down over time if its too stretched.
