Hey everyone!
I have been using salifert KH testing kit and recently picked up the red Sea kit with dkh cal and mag.
When testing with red Sea I am testing at 7.8 if my testing is correct.
With salifert I am testing 8.5 dkh.
Which one would you trust or is this difference ok?
Or maybe someone could educate me maybe I am testing incorrectly?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks!
Paul.

It may just be a margin of error or so. I use the red sea one. The key is to keep it in a stable range (between 7-13 with most in the middle). You can always test with a bucket of salt at the exact salinity that the bucket gives KH with.

Thanks will try this. I was thinking about getting Hanna alkalinity checker... Probably would be best....

I think the hanna is more prone to user errors in the readings but they are nice if you wear gloves (I would worry over fingerprints and what not messing the readings up. These are all hobby grade test kits that are really designed to give you an average range of a parameter and not an exact true number with low error. BRS did a video of best alk test of the year and showed that with nearly every test there is some difference between each person who used the same test on the same water. I would pick which test you prefer using, and just try to keep it at some designated number (ideally near your salt's level).
