So my VCA RFG is creating a vortex from the surface of the water. This only happens once every few minutes.

I’m fine with this happening. Is there any problem with this? I’ve heard micro bubble may attach onto coral tissue and cause damage?

from what I can see all the bubbles rise to the surface.

I lower powerhead pumps and returns that "vortex" because I don't like the salt creep* caused by the popping bubbles. A few bubbles will not hurt the corals, ime. If the entire display is white with bubbles I might worry for deeper water species that don't normal have surf splash in their wild experience, but acros might actually like it?

Edit* Computers are so smart they know I work on "Salt Creek" so the creep "fixed it" for me without asking. :)

So sorry for the late replay here. Just now seeing this one.

If the RFG is drawing in air, but only every few minutes then it should be an easy fix. Here a quick-start guide that can help you position the RFG to help mitigated issue.

The other thing to watch for could be something as simple as other wavemakers in the tank, causing the water level to change as they create waves. If wave maker sent to create a standing wave in the tank it can drop the water level over the RFG just enough to allow it to draw in air.

Take a look and let me knw if that helps.
