Vectra Return Pump Question

I am just ready to install the pump, but noticed you need PVC pipe for it. I’m the directions it shows PVC pipe, but there is nothing in the box. Which looked like it had been opened.

Should there be some in the box or do I need to go buy some? For reference it’s the M2

Hi, the input and output for the pump is as follows:

• Input dimension = 1.25" (31.75 mm)
• Output dimension = 1" (25 mm)

You will need female PVC adapters I believe to make the connection on the threaded input/output.

Ok so input I don’t need anything right as it’s being submerged. But external I’ll need just a 1 inch diameter length of PVC? With a female end?

Yep, that should do it. You may want to consider a union on the output, to easily remove the pump for servicing. I would also put a small piece of PVC on the internal piece, but that's just me...

Actually, double check your pump. It may not have a threaded, but a slip connection. I may have given you the wrong info!

It says to PVC glue it as well into the little blue adaptor so I guess the Return pump won’t be running today. Should be ok for tomorrow though?

The PVC it says get is just a straight plain peice.

Ran into the same issue. Went to Lowe’s and found piece that worked. You could also buy the Vectra barb kit instead.

The PVC glue should be fine after about 60-120 minutes. It actually sets faster than that, but I tend to err on the side of caution.

Your going to need a 3/4" barb like his if your hooking up to the Waterbox's flexible return pipe. Those instructions show how how to connect to hard plumbing. Waterbox has a video of them installing the same pump in their 100.3 if that helps.

Yes. Mine went on a WaterBox too. I’ve got the 5526 with an Vectra L2 return.

Also, I had to soak the tubing in hot water to get it to soften up to slide onto the barb.

I ended up taking the parts that come off the Vectra and the return hose from the WaterBox to Lowe’s or Home Depot. Find the person working in the plumbing dept. They’ll help you find what you need.

I bought the two parts pointed at here, Teflon tape, and PVC glue.

Looks to me like he attached a 3/4" threaded barb (using teflon tape) into a 1" threaded slip fitting. Then I believe you glue that into the blue collar which comes with that pump? I have a Cor-20 so all I needed was a slip barb.

Here's how I did my M1.

Vectra sells a separate adapter that goes from the pump to the PVC fitting. Would be nice if it was included. I bought the piece off of bulk reef supply for the M1. I'm sure they sell one for the M2 somewhere.

Looks like the new version doesn't need the adapter anymore. Smart move on Ecotech part. All you need is the blue screw on piece.
