Vectra S1 v S2

Hi Guys,
I'm thinking of getting a new in sump pump and I'm thinking about the Vectra, but I notice that the S1 was quickly replaced by the S2 (or so it seems).
Can any of you enlighten me to why this would happen if it is the case.
Also if anyone is running either of these can you let me know how you're getting on with them?

There was a design issue with the S1's that was corrected early on. The S2 took that modification even further and also changed the fittings on the pump to (I believe) a more standard pipe size

They also modified (hopefully upgraded) the electronics.
