Friday i bought a foxface, Harlequin tusk and Blue Tang all fish are show sized and nice and fat. Put them in my 40b qt tank to watch them and treat as necessary. Yesterday I noticed the blue tang would flash a bit and kept twitching it's head but didn't realize notice anything other then the foxface has been breathing fairly rapidly and I have not seen him eat yet. Didn't really get time to look at them too much today because that storm was coming my way and I had to get battery backups and all that stuff ready. Came home tonight and the blue tang is covered in sugar fine spots so velvet probably?

I did a fw dip on all of them to give temporary relief.

All I have on hand right now is CP and i know blue tangs and cp don't mix well should i add the cp right now or wait till i can get copper tomorrow morning? Tusk and tang are still swimming and eating well foxface is chilling in the corner breathing heavy and and not really swimming but keeping pace in the powerhead.

Aslo if i dose cp tonight should i do a wc and switch to CU tomorrow?

A bath in Ruby Reef Rally would buy you some time. It has both antiseptic and antibiotic qualities. When used between the FW dip and copper, survival rates increased. Also you can do the FW dip again tomorrow. It's amazing the number of parasites it removes.

I wouldn't start one and then next day switch to the other.

@HotRocks, what should be done?

@Big G, FW dip may buy some time! I've not used CP on tangs before, only CU.
Need more advice on what to use, given what the OP has on hand.

A little tough to tell from the pictures, bit if it's a fine dusting all over, hides from the light and or swims into flow. It's velvet.

CP might be the way to go. Have you used it before?

Yes all the time but this is my frist fish that cp is supposedly hard on. I wasn't even planning on getting fish as i allrady had my other quarantine tank with fish in it....but the gf fell in love with them at the lfs....

My experiences if it's velvet it kills very quickly once spots show so its a gamble as to whats harder on the tang cp or waiting till the am and going full copper right away

I agree with @Big G on the blue. It's hit or miss. You would have to set up two hospital tanks, one Cu for the blue and another for CP on the others.
If not, wait till morning and use cu on all.

I did 2/3 dose cp last night as i knew i wasn't going to make it to lfs before work. Everyone looked good when i got home and im runing to lfs to get cu and set up a tank for the tang.
