Velvet fallow period question

Recently I purchased a kole tang. I have been keeping my other fish in a qt for over 5 weeks following a velvet outbreak and treated them with cupermine. As I introduced the tang into the qt, he was mercilessly attacked and pestered. Panicking, I removed him and threw him in the display tank. So far, everything seems fine. But if the tang comes down with velvet, that would mean in would have to discard of him and restart the fallow period all over?

Correct, fallow period is 6 weeks so you were pretty close. I would be more concerned with any possible parasites/issues the kole tang had when you bought it since it seems it was not quarantined because it was attacked.

That is correct. Fish would have to come out and be treated with copper and the tank will need to rerun the 6 week fallow period.

Correct, fallow period is 6 weeks so you were pretty close. I would be more concerned with any possible parasites/issues the kole tang had when you bought it since it seems it was not quarantined because it was attacked.

No, I put it in the at with the rest of my fish. I was going to do a therapeutic cupermine dosing , but my niger and Koran were practically tearing him apart. So, in a panic, I literally tossed the tang into the display

He is saying you may have contaminated the display by putting the fish in there.
