General cure will do nothing for Velvet. You can treat the DT with copper, provided all fish can handle it. Just note that the rocks, sand, and other things will absorb copper. You can remove most of the copper after treatment with something like cuprisorb, but copper will continue to leach for quite a while. CP can also be used, but in an active tank, I am not sure how well you could keep levels theraputic due to bacteria, absorption, etc.
General cure will not treat velvet. You need to treat with copper or Chloroquine Phosphate if you wish to successfully eradicate velvet from your system. Copper would be my choice as it is easy to monitor the level since its a system with LR etc. Chloroquine has too many unknowns as far as degradation and no way to test in home.
Copper power should be done at 1.75, I think. Cupramine is .5, I know that one for sure. @HotRocks can correct me if I am wrong on the Copper power
I prefer hanna, also what kind of fish do you have? Copper power is usually gentler as far as copper goes, but I do use cupramine as well. Just depends on the fish.
You are correct. I would shoot for 2.0ppm with copper power and would only trust using a Hanna checker dosing a display to you can accurately monitor the level since absorption may occur with sand and LR.
Thats right, there is a strain of velvet that lived through 1.75.
That plus it will allow some wiggle room as I can only assume there will be absorption causing a fluctuation in the level at first so being able to maintain a consistent level may be a bit difficult.

Just for documentation, do you have pics of the fish? That way we can confirm if it is velvet or ich? No worries if ya dont, as copper power will kill both.
