My tank caught velvet about 45 days ago killed everything except my fire fish, fire fish never showed symptoms and is still doing fine, I figured may 15 to be 75 days. However the fire fish remains, is it going to be safe to add a fish then since I never technically went fallow? It seems to be immune to it for whatever reason. Thanks

Although it seems to be pretty rare with velvet some fish can build up a temporary immunity. Honestly, catching the fish and going through a true fallow will give you so much more peace of mind than potentially going through a second tank wipeout. Don't you think so?

True, at the time I didn't want to stress him just incase he was fighting it. Probably wouldn't be an issue now.

+1 Velvet will still be present in the tank if you never went fallow. I would certainly agree that the fallow period would be important to do before adding any new fish to the tank.

^^ Agree. Although asymptomatic, the firefish is likely a velvet carrier now, and thus should be referred to as "Typhoid Mary" until you treat her & go fallow. :p
