I had velvet in my 75 before(8 months ago) it killed all 5 fire fish but i never removed their carcasses, could the velvet had survived up to now(8 months) by just feeding on the corpses? I have a small serpent starfish and 2 hermit crabs in there, can velvet live and feed on rotenning corpses as well?

Oh i got 2 turbo snails as well-i really wanna add a couple fishes now... and i feel like i have waited long enough.

Nope, they need a live host. Fallow period for Velvet is 6 weeks. You are good to go.
So what happens to the velvet once that fish dies? It dies too? Just curious... also i got an aiptasia problem on my live rocks BUT all those rocks are gonna be tossed in a large container without water since im setting up a 125 reef tank with better looking purple rocks, etc.(I got PLENTY of dry rock) can i throw a fish in there? Is a 6 inch blue hippo in this 75(temporarily only, hes in quarantine from a trustworthy seller) would my hippo get killed by those tiny aiptasias? Thx

Velvet will die after shortly after the host dies. They do not feed for long on a dead fish. They look for live fish. Uronema on the other hand wouldn’t care.

The aiptasia on the LR will die without water of course.

About the fish in QT..I wouldn’t trust any LFS as much as they will tell you the fish are eating and clean I could easily point out just about every parasite active in their tanks at most LFS. Some run low level copper which suppresses ICH and Velvet, but it will only reappear later and cause issue or wipe out your fish population.

You could throw the blue Hippo in there. The aiptasia won’t hurt him, but I thought you were going to leave those rocks dry? I’d continue to QT the blue Hippo until you know he’s clean.

Good luck!
