What kind of anemones? I have gotten Haddoni and BTA off LA and both arrived healthy. I ordered a Sebae off BlueZooAquatics that is going great and was well packaged....Price range probably plays a part as well. You can get high end quality anemones off iBluewater, and I would look there.

is ibluewater pretty credible?

Want something that is trustworthy, credible and have good reviews.

It really depends on the type of nem you're looking for. For example, if you're looking for high-end BTAs, I suggested buying from people in the Sunburst Anemone Marketplace on FB.

Bob at iBluewater is very knowledgeable. I've chatted with him a few times and almost made a purchase. However, on more than one occasion, people felt duped because they had to wait a long time for a nem that they ordered that was supposedly in stock, or didn't receive what they originally ordered. The belief was that he would say he had a nem in stock and that it was in QT, but that he looked for the nem after the money was taken. For me, it was that he claimed to have a yellow gig, and when he sent me a photo, it was indeed yellowish, but I knew that it was a bleached green one. For the prices he charges, and he claims he fully QTs his nems, one would expect a healthy nem upon arrival, and this wasn't the case on several occasions either.

BlueZoo used to charge only $40 for their small gigs. Whenever they'd have them in stock, I'd buy them. Sometimes they arrived DOA, and they would give me refunds. Some lasted a couple of weeks, then died in treatment. One time they sent me a haddoni by mistake (and allowed me to keep it but refunded me anyway). And a couple actually made it through the QT process. I would definitely order from them again, but the caveat is that you run the risk of getting a sick one that doesn't make it through QT.

LiveAquaria sometimes sells nice nems and I would definitely order from them. LA DD used to sell gigs -- at a high price -- and people would post them on another forum. None of them made it. During a live chat on FB, I asked Kevin Cohen if they treated their nems with Cipro, and he said that they did. I presume that their treatment process isn't comprehensive though, based on the mortality rate. I think they've stopped selling gigs altogher.

I've heard good things about AquaPros in IL and have friends who have purchased from them.

Finally, there is my LFS, Aquatic Collection, in Hayward, CA. They've been on a roll lately with over 6 gigantea and a few magnifica in the past couple of months. Just keep in mind that these are fresh imports so they'll most likely need to be treated.

I appreciate it d-nak.

You from the bay? I notice you mention aquatic collection in Hayward

Bob at bluewater seems like a really nice guy when you talk with him but I'd never order another nem from him. Ordered a blue gig and got excuse after excuse on why he couldn't ship. A few months went by and I wanted my money back at which he said he would ship two "yellows" to make up for the wait and then send a blue when he had one in shipping condition. I received a tan and a bleached green both of which melted within two weeks. Emails were not responded to and phone calls were not returned. This was over 5 years ago, still waiting on the blue I was promised...

I got some beautiful carpets from Vivid years back but it appears they quit selling them. May be worth calling them to see if they could get one.

Yup. I assume you're in the bay too? If you are, you really don't need to buy a nem online. We've got some good resources here.

Sounds par for the course.

Regarding Vivid, the last time I was there a couple of years ago they actually had a nice purple gig. Price was a bit high back then, but about right in this market. I talked to the owner about it and he did say it's not something that they typical have in stock.

I'm adding some cool looking ones to the site today
