Ventralis Anthias - Let's See Them!!

Any suggestions on timing for adding these guys into the tank? I was thinking of doing my two clowns, then a trio of these guys afterwards into a 120 DT.

Assuming they should go in before tangs and more aggressive feeders, correct?
You should always establish peaceful fish before aggressive ones. As seen in my video above, they are vivacious eaters as well.

I have a female. I've had her for about a month now. She eats the mixture i feed the rest of my fish. But such small amounts, that I do worry about her, but my other anthias were the same way. And now they are fat
I feed 3-5x a day, in an 860g, 1100g system
Temp is currently 75-76.5

Is she tiny? What is the size of the food you are feeding? The reason I ask is because the food sizes may be too big for here which means you will have to switch to smaller foods that she can fit into her mouth such as cyclopeeze and fish eggs.

Here's mine...crappy phone video though...They destroy PE Mysis. Took them a few days before they started coming out of the rocks though...now they're out in the open all the time.

Nice! I plan to get 4 females once I get my new build off. I have a Cook's Island male right now but I will probably try to get a mix of females from different locations.

Also, could everyone tell which region their Ventralis is from, if known? Mine is from Cook's Island.

What acclimated box is that and where did you get it
These are Marshall island variants. Different from any other variants. More closely related to Japanese Ventralis. Notice the red dot on the tail.

The acclimation box was from my local LFS. You can find some nice ones online if you search.

When will you be getting more of these :)

I have a school of 5 Ventralis . Tough to get a good shot but here they are:

I have to disagree with you on how easy it is to get them eating. I have had many over the last 5 years, they can be delicate and require multiple daily feedings. But they are worth the extra effort!

I am looking for a place where I can ordered them but I have a question for you guys it's OK to have multiple males and some females as well or it has to be just one male and 2 to 3 females, thanks in advance

Just purchase all females. Eventually, one or more will become a male depending on tank size. Males cost more than females and it would suck to lose the money because a male changed into a female.

I agree, get only females. It is very cool to watch the transformation from female to male. Doesn't take long. They will decide how many males your tank can handle. You don't want males killing each other.

As has been mentioned they do prefer water that is cooler than 75. That's not to say they won't adapt but I'm certain that is at least part of the reason they don't have a good success rate in our aquariums.

If there's a better looking fish than the ventralis, I've not seen it!
