Up until 3 weeks ago verdell's tank was having some cloudy issues.
So I got the old timie diatom xl filter and it did work. but was a pain. they have some quality issues.
Charles at aquatic cove installed a filter about a foot long in the refugium section of the sump. It is a mechanical type filter with a small uv filter also. The aquarium has remained crystal clear since adding that filter.
Additionally, and it might just be my imagination, but I swear the chaeto in the refugium has been growing much faster.
I hypothesize the uv is killing the phyto and the nutrients are feeding the chaeto.
As most of you already know I'm not a big fan of filters even this one. But it does seem to be doing a good job.
