I’m wanting to use my laser to kill vermetid snails in my tank. It’s really powerful (at least to me). I can burn paper, pop balloons ect. Does any one here have any experience doing this? I am concerned about breaking my glass on the aquarium because of the laser heating it up. Should I only shoot from the top?

super glue works!!
But it doesn’t sound nearly as fun as lasering them! Lol! Not my idea, I was researching how to get rid of them and the laser thing kept coming up and I just happen to have a strong laser.

Search for aptasia lasers, you can compare the specs of those to what you have and get an idea of how to use them.

I would be too worried about damaging your glass or accidentally tagging a fish or coral. Two of my biggest concerns (next to pest infestation). Depending on how big your infestation what we’ve done for small infestations (nano tank) is remove the rock that started it all, broken any tube we’ve found then glued the area. Then dropped bumble bee snails in to take care of the rest (They potentially will eat zoas, palys and shrooms from what I’ve read but we never had that issue.). Unfortunately the best way to remove these little buggers is to nuke them at their source live rock, frag plug inspection etc.

I just ordered one to try this out for myself. From what I’ve seen 1.5-5mw will work. Just keep it focused at the base of the tube until you hear a crackle or pop. Watch melvesreef videos when he uses his laser. No issues safely going through glass or acrylic. Just make sure you have proper eye protection...
I’ll update once I get to use mine.

I’ve tried glue and epoxy with a little success, I’ll crush and lance what I can reach. But I’m tired of diving armpit deep in my tank crushing the buggers. My six line has slowed the spread but I need something to kill the buggers in the hard to reach places.

Been using a 3 watt blue laser in my tank to kill aiphtasias and vermetids and carve hearts for my wide in coraline, and it works fine, I love to hear pests pop.
As for the fish they see the actual laser and stay away as if it was an extension of my arm.
Just remember the laser comes out of a glass itself, and the focus point will not be on your glass.
Peace

I was wondering if you got the lazer and did it work on the Vermetid snails

Yes and no.
It will fry the small ones, the big ones are another story. While I have not been able to eradicate them from my tank the population has dropped dramatically.

I have had a three step approach,;
Step one - I spend about 10 minutes every few days frying all the little buggers that I can see in the morning
Step two - I stab and crush the lager ones with an sharp pointed ice pick type tool
Step three - I’ve added a six line wrasse to hopefully Pick at the rock work and eat the Babies before they have a chance to form those shells.

I think all three of these things has helped. I have noticed a drop in the number of mucus nets in the tank after I feed the fish in the morning.

I plan on adding bumblebee snail as soon as my LFS has some in stock. They may or may not help but either way they are a neat little snail that will ad variety to my tank

LiveAquaria has them I would be surprised if your LFS could match the price. Of coarse if that's all you need with the shipping charge it would be closer but if u need a few other things u need then u can get free shipping.
The thing with the vermetid snails that I see is that u kind of need to put them where they need to be for example if u can cut a few tubes off and then put the snails in that spot and hope for the best
