First off, how common do you think vermitid snails are, if you had to guess a number, what % of tanks out there have them?

Are they very common on LR coming from the Keys or Gulf? For those of you who have ordered from ie KP, did you get any?

My guess is 50% of tanks have them. A certain small percentage of those have issues with them. I have them in my current 600 and started with dry rock. Prob came on large corals attached to rocks purchased from other reefers. I have bumble bee snails, a large pencil urchin and a wrasse that prob keeps them in check.
Cant answer the second part

I haven’t noticed any in my small tank with only live rock from kp Aquatics. My display has many...It started with dry rock. I guess they came from frags.

Gotcha, are you lax with dipping/inspection or do they just manage to sneak past most people even if they are careful?

I do dip everything in coral rx and scrape off algae and anything else I don’t want. I feel like they appeared out of nowhere. Obviously I missed some during inspection.

If I took out a piece of rock and left it out in the air or put it in rodi, would this kill the vermetid, I realize it would kill a lot of other things but just curious about vermetids.
