So I just completed a 3 day blackout to kill some algae which appeared to work pretty well. Then I noticed my vermetid snails appear to be gone. I had a lot of them (probably at least 50+ tubes in various spots). Their tubes are still there but nobody is home. Maybe it's just a coincidence? I know they are quite pain to get rid of so might be worth a try for somebody desperate out there. Also, my tank got way hotter than I intended during the blackout. I put a sheet over the tank but didn't ventilate at all and my thermometer read 82.6 at one point. Maybe the heat killed them? Anyway, good riddance.
I agree it doesn't make since that they would be gone.
