Seems like my tanks is being taking over by these tiny little pest! Is there any way to eliminate them or slow population of them?

They are filter feeders so you may have some excess food. I got a coral with about 10 on it when I first started and didn't realize that they were even alive, just thought they were part of the rock it came on. Mine do reproduce but it's pretty slow, maybe 1 or 2 new ones a month. You can either superglue the opening of the tube shut or snap it off at the base and throw it out. I absolutely hate vermetids though, they are so obnoxious and ugly, especially when their webs come out

following. i am having the same issue. i have been breaking the ends off of them during my regular cleaning, but they are everywhere.

Do wrasses eat them?

If you get extremely, extremely lucky, yes. Melenarus/coris wrasses can but it is up to the individual and probably less than 50% will. My emerald crab actually will eat them if she hasn't been fed in a few days, but she only will eat like 2 at a time.

Yeah super gluing would be a nightmare and would take countless days due to how many there are.

I assume you have a pretty big tank then. Mine is a 46 so it's controllable but would definitely suck if you have a big tank with hundreds

I have a 125 gallon tank, and I've recently run into a lot of these pests. I've found the easiest way to control them is to simply crush the shells with a pair of forceps. You can eradicate dozens in the course of a few minutes, all without the mess of superglue. :)

I use a $5 pair like this off of Amazon:

I normally got them in the past while the tank was still new. After about 2 years they disappeared on there own. If they become a nuisance then there's great advice posted here to trim them back. Also, make sure some aren't actually feather dusters, I've made that mistake before.

My Melenarus and puffer took care of mine... plus the puffer took care of any small snails...feather dusters...lol..

Awesome! Great advice... I will pick myself up a pair.

I was just at a local reef club meeting where it was recommended to use tweezers to break off the tube and then blue leg hermits supposedly eat the insides after exposing the worm inside.
