Hi everyone. I’m resurrecting my old tank. Before I broke it down I had a very healthy population of vermetidae snail on my live rock, over flow and sump. I’ve cleaned up the display tank pretty good and will be using new live rock with the new setup. However, my sump is a little tricky. There are corners and areas I can’t reach and still some of these snails stuck on the acrylic. Dead now I’m assuming.

The tank and sump have been dry for about 4 months now while in storage. Last night i filled the sump with 100% vinegar for about 30 min and let areas I couldn’t reach soak. My question is are these guys dead? Like they dont lay dorminate and come back when wet? I’m hoping the vinegar bath wiped them out even if their skeletons are still stuck on the acrylic.

They are surprisingly resilient to crushing, however :) I have all but given up trying to control them in my tank. I cleaned off an Astrea snail this weekend that was covered in them....looked like a porcupine!

is there nothing that eats these things? They're starting to take over and i'm tired of crazy glue. wonder if i could zap them with a laser like aptasia

I struggled for a long time with these f*kers. I did the crazy glue, breaking them off, aptasia paste, vinegar, etc. As far as I know, nothing is out there that eats them. I ultimately gave up and lived with them. Breaking my tank down was the best thing.

Lesson I learned, always quarantine and put all new coral on new plugs!
