A few months ago I went on a Vermitid safari and I bagged about 20 or 30. I then purchased 6 Bumblebee snails and well they have kept the numbers down, I don't see nearly as many new tubes but really, I don't really mind them as long as they are kept in check.
So I'm sitting here looking at the tank and I see a tube on the bare bottom that fell during the hunt. Low and behold there's a web coming from it and it's feeding off the fish dinner plate, and it isn't attached to anything.

Hats off to this guy!!!

I have to say I was a doubter of bumblebee snails doing anything. I put in about 2 dozen in my 125 gallon and didn’t see any improvement for a year. There were thousands growing on everything including my trouchus snails and clams. I convince myself to go all in and purchased at least another 2 and half dozen more and low and behold I am seeing traumatic reduction. Like OP I can live with some and I know will never be eliminated but happy tank is not a prickly mess.

Do you think you got a different species, or did they just reach a critical number?

Do they eat your other snails?

I will say with my years of investigation there is actually different species of the vertimids. A larger and smaller species Now I am not sure and impossible to tell from pictures which ones people have the picture above look like the bigger ones . I believe I have the smaller ones. As far as bumble snails I do not think their are different species. All I can say need a lot and take a look time. Oh also. I also stopped feeding reef roids too. I thing the powedered coral food just feeds them.

How well have the bumblebee snails done?
Before the snails I had vermitid popping like crazy, two months ago I got the snails, I actually saw them on tubes a few times, the only gauge that I have is that I haven't had to scrape them off in several months. Before I scraped them off twice in 3 months. So at a minimum, they are keeping the numbers down and in check.

Time to buy some.

Imo bumblebee snails work wonders!!! Before adding them I was scraping my powerheads twice a month and they easily had 20+ on each one (2 total) and now only one or two in a few months.

I added 5 to my Nuvo20 when it was infested and within a month I seen dwindling numbers of vermentids and now I only see a handful that I think are mostly dead. The bumblebee will now climb the glass searching for the last ones up in my powerheads.

Do they eat your other snails? Stomatella for example? Are they obligate snail eaters?
