Hi I'm in the middle of my tank and mixing station build. Waiting on a custom sump before I can start to get things wet, but I have some options on the ATO side and wanted to get some opinions. I've got equipment (both an Apex ATK and Versa Pumps and not sure the optimal setup for this new tank in a home I just moved into. It will be a mixed reef 140g display tank.

I'm setting up a solid mixing/RODI station in my laundry room. It has 2 40 Gallon Norwesco containers for salt/fresh water. I'm having tubing run from the laundry room through the ceiling to the display tank/sump in my office which is about 50 feet away for AWC and for getting the RO water over to the tank side. I will also run an APEX Aquabus cable along with the tubing.

My question is on optimal setup here to get freshwater into the tank.

-Do I run it pulling from a Versa (powered on/off through my Apex) at the display from the RO container in the laundry room right into the tank...or into another ATO tank by the display? I've read of a way to setup the Versa to work as an ATO powered on/off through an Apex.

-Do i push it with an ATK from RO container to the display tank...or another ATO tank by the display. Ceiling height is about 11 feet by the way. I know the ATK is designed as more of a true ATO setup.

I have an ATO tank I can use by the display...but thinking it through, sounds like it just creates more failure points as then I'll have to create systems to get that water from there into the display, but interested in thoughts on all of this.

So I guess this is in two parts. Is the ATO tank by the display even needed?
Best method to get water from Mixing Station over to tank with my options?

Thanks in advance!
Chris

I have close situation on my hands as well.

I was thinking to use the versa with a float volve that will be triggered by a liquid level sensor, so I will have the versa on constant feed mode on/off that will be triggered by the liquid level sensor, that I am unsure how to use atm! but the option would be like a single power outlet like KASA one that can be controlled online and if the WiFi drops would not interfere with the ordinal setup...
So the floating valve will be there as a redundancy... if that all make sense...

I know you mentioned that the float will be there as just a redundancy, but you should note that float valves are not to be used with peristaltic, positive displacement pumps. The pressures that are built by a peristaltic pump will lead to the internal tube rupturing within the peristaltic pump, thereby damaging it.

Float valves are only to be used with traditional pumps.

Time saver! thank you... I am gonna be back to the drawing board again...

You could do the Avast ATO that integrates with the apex. That way you can build in failsafes with coding. The weak point is the eb832 which always has the potential of getting stuck in the on position. I did this for a few months with no issue. I ultimetely got a deal on the Spectrapure ATO which is absolutely amazing. If you have a spare $300 its definitely the way to go!

Gonna look true it for sure! just wanna do the best use of my Versa, and I am trying to figure it out the way to do ATO with it before spend with no propose...
