Hi I got a vertex alpha 250 royal exclusive skimmer Maybe up for sale ... the reason is because I was told it is to strong for my bio load from a person that works in royal exclusive .. is this true people?? Sometimes it Skimz Bubbles real good and sometimes it doesn’t and doesn’t , so I called royal exclusive and I want to say his name was Scott but he said he been around alpha skimmers for many yrs and the problem is the the skimmer is a BEAST and it is to strong for the bio load my 210g tank is dishing out... now I’m at the point to sale this beast of a work horse so what should I do ??

I would be interested in hearing this answer. I have a 180 but I have a ton of fish and recently just got a couple nonphotosynthetic Gorgonians so I have been dumping what seems like a ton of phytoplankton and reefroids trying to make sure they get fed and was wondering if I should upgrade my skimmer. I was looking at one About the size you’re talking about But if you are having problems with it in your 210 then maybe I should look for something smaller?

I was told to add more fish or maybe my circulation in my tank maybe not enough but I know that it is because I got 2 mp60s

So do you think it’s the pump ?

well the red dragon pump you can't control where the Varios has a 1 to 5 adjust so you can ramp it up or down. Adding fish is a big smiley face too! ;)
Cool thank ya I’m definitely will buy the pump to try it out in case I make a wrong decision on selling

IMO, it is better to have extra skimming power available when it's needed than to not have the ability and need it. You might be looking for a solution to a problem that is not actually a problem.

You would have to add a LOT of fish. I have the Bubble King double cone 200, it is smaller than you skimmer. I run it on a 240 gallon cube with 3 fish that get fed 2 times a day and the skimmer keeps up way easy. It doesn't even work hard. These skimmers are conservatively rated in my opinion.
