The pump (red dragon) on my vertex alpha 170 just gave out on me. I am looking for an alternative pump block replacement. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I hear vertex can be a real pain getting in touch with.........they are in Germany I believe. Emails often go unanswered. You may want to look for their US distributer.

Have you contacted Vertex Technologies for a replacement?

Yes. Pump block is costly thru Vertex. I just read that a Laguna 1500 or Askoll 1350 are an alternative solution.

Just curious.which one exactly so I don't purchase a wrong pump

Thanks

The powerjet 1500 is the old model that has been replaced with the powerjet 1350, Askoll is a rebranded Laguna block, the only difference between the Red Dragon, Askoll and Laguna is the Volute.

I have the volute and impeller from the old pump. So If I get the Askoll 1350, I should be able to fit the impeller and volute correct
Thanks

Correct, that is what I did to my Askoll 1500, I replaced just the motor block with a Laguna 1350 and the impeller and Volute fit perfectly.

Would this model 1350 fits?

Or do you have a link?

Thanks

I just posted who to contact. Contact Germany if you want but if you but they are not who I recommend calling. Vertex Technologies will handle all your Vertex needs.

Laguna no longer makes the 1500. I believe the 1350 is it's replacement.

I ended up with the VarioS pump (the one on the diablo skimmet) the air tube fits perfectly.
