Vertex Omega 150 Skimmer Impeller Troubles

The Vertex impellers are the ones that you do not use vinegar on. I finally got to the point that I would not remove the impeller I would just clean it while the pump was running.

Thank you for this thread! PSK1000 works perfectly in my Omega 150. These are great skimmers and I was really concerned I'd need to purchase a new one...

What did you end up doing for your Vertex Omega 150 Skimmer (VO-150 SK) impeller pinwheel? @Daniel Waters I am trying to replace my impeller for the VO-150 SK. I have the SK pump (looks like the Sicce PSK 400 pump). So, I purchased the Sicce PSK 400 impeller (yellow) and compared existing skimmer impeller (red). Skimmer pictured side by side, I found a difference in size. Vertex Omega 150 Skimmer (VO-150 SK) impeller measured 2/8 (1/4) differences.

@Saybng Did you stick with the Sicce PSK 1000 impeller for your Vertex Omega 150 Skimmer (VO-150 SK) impeller?

@brihortee I think your experience is similar to mine in that the replacement impellers are a different design than the originals that came with the Vertex, which are just sicce pumps designed specifically for the Vertex skimmer. If the pump works with the new impeller, I would not worry about the different size of the wheel part. Afterall, I believe the wheel's purpose is to simply cut up the water and form microbubbles, so if your new impeller is doing that, then I would just use it. I believe I noted in one my previous posts that I thought the newer impeller / pinwheel design was not quite as effective in creating microbubbles as the original one, but it certainly wasn't enough of a difference to warrant buying a new skimmer in my estimation. As long as your skimmer is sized right for your system, I think you will be fine.
