okay i have had all i can take with this skimmer.... for the life of me i can not get it to skim right, i have done everything i can think of tuning wise. my question is how do i get the skimmer to stop overflowing??? skimmer is in 8inches of water. if i cant fix this it will go up for trade on a new skimmer.. tank is a 90 gallon display with a 40 breeder as a sump

The problem people have with this skimmer is the air intake/adjustability...
Seems backward but the way it works is turn in The Venturi and bubble production goes down, which makes level in skimmer go up.
Less air = less bubbles = more water = higher level in skimmer

What I suggest you do is turn the air Venturi out all the way, which will give you the most amount of bubbles, and the lowest water level in skimmer. Then use the gate valve/output valve to control the level inside skimmer.

Thank me later

so close it or open it?

Open it/ all the way out on the Venturi. The adjustment on the pump input.

Give it a few minutes, then use gate valve to adjust level in skimmer

Watch this, may help explain

Yup. Sorry sounds like it might be new. If new it might take a week or two to settle in. If not new and hasn’t been cleaned in a while, leave running in vinegar solution overnight and good as new

My 150 produces huge bubbles from the neck of the collection cup. If you have no luck after you try this than get lots of vinegar and clean
that is what i saw. they will be really small in the cone and than gets big at the cup

I have the 130, which has a similar problem with air/water ratio, though iirc more severe. I stuck a needle valve in the air intake hose and have it choked a little bit. Skims like a dream these days.

Things are a little dirty at the moment, but its a hayward needle valve with some barbed fittings.

Nice air valve, I could of used one on my old Vertex 150 Omega. Alas I sold it.

I have a IN150 as well with overflowing problems as well, will come back shortly with symptoms and look forward to some suggestions.
