Very Low Salinity in LiveAquaria Shipment??

Just revived and am acclimating a couple of fish from LA for my QT, a yellow assessor and a leopard wrasse. Salinity of shipping water for assessor is fine (1.024) but for wrasse is very low (1.018). I'm tanking extra acclimation time to gradually bring it up but am wondering if the fish was being treated (or in tank with others being treated) with hyposalinity.

As touchy as I understand leopards can be with shipment am concerned by how low the shipping salinity is. Good news is she looks alert active and healthy.

Anybody experience this before?

1.018 is pretty typical for the California shipments. Was the assessor from the Wisconsin facility?

Edit: Also, if it's an option, I would do your best to get a bucket of fresh, heated 1.018 (or whatever the leopard is at now) so that it can just get out of the shipping water ASAP.

That's good to know, thanks. Assessor was from Florida facility. Leopard's tolerating acclimation well, nearly complete. Will keep my fingers crossed. Thx again.

1.018 isn't hypo just yet. It needs to get down to 1.008 or so to be considered to be hypo. It's on the low side but isn't dangerous. I've kept my fish only systems at 1.020 for the longest time. I believe fish in slightly lower salinity will have an easier time to cope with the water content loss issue in a salty environment.
