Hey everyone this is my first post on here. I have a 165gallon mixed reef tank.

I wanted to let everyone know NOT to use Vibrant by Underwater Creations inc.

It kills corals especially Euphyllia's.

All of my torches bailed out and it is because of this product that supposed to be bacteria. It is not Bacteria it is an ALGACIDE which is poison for your corals.

Remember corals have Zoo Anthalagae in it and it uses it for production of energy. Well Vibrant kills algae which is what corals are and kills your corals.

It is not reef safe DO NOT USE.

If you have GHA manually remove with your hand.

IT IS NOT REEF SAFE. Lost my torches and octospawns and frogspawns, Hammers seem to tolerate it but they still do not look like they did before I put Vibrant in my tank.

One of my torches then developed Brown Jelly disease from being so stressed out that I am now having to dose Cipro.

How did you conclude it was an algaecide?

Welcome to R2R!

I lost snails, clams. I used it years ago when it first came out. Trash stuff. Sorry to hear about your losses. Ignore the shills.

@OP, not laughing at the loss of your coral, just at the post since it's been clearly established here that Vibrant is trash... Sorry if I seemed insensitive.
Well, established at least that it is essentially relabeled and repriced API Algaefix. Perhaps there are some uses for it, but I haven't seen much in terms of benefit outweighing cost... I put mine in the trash :)

I guess it shouldn't, but it surprises me that this is still being sold.

I don't know enough about the details, but you would think they would simply stop selling it, rather than double down and just put algeacide on the label. How many people would even know that algeacide is bad... is it?

How much algae is in your tank? Kill it all and where does the stuff inside of it go? Parameter swings. Kill it all quickly and what happens to the space left behind? Parameter swing + real estate. Hello, dinos and cyano! Broad spectrum algaecide + corals which have zooanthellae, a type of dinoflagellate golden-brown algae. Potential death of their colorful energy-making symbiotes.

Unless you know more precisely what it is doing, I'd stay away.
